We aim to respond to all enquiries within 24-hours and we will never leave a query unanswered.

For convenience, our primary means of communication is via email. You will receive regular newsletters and important information via email so please ensure you have provided the studio with an up-to-date email address that is regularly checked. We are of course happy to include multiple email addresses per family if you would like your correspondence sent to numerous recipients. Don’t forget to add our email address Info@BlueStarzProductions.com to your contacts so we don’t end up in the dreaded spam folder!

In the infrequent case of urgent information (for example, unexpected class cancellations or performance changes), we will send an SMS and/or telephone to all families.  So, for this reason, please make sure the mobile phone number you have provided to the studio is correct and up-to-date.

We always display important information, dates and studio details on our noticeboard in reception so please have a quick look when dropping off and picking up in case there is anything you may have missed. We are always happy to chat in more detail about communications you may receive from the studio, so if you need any clarification please don’t hesitate to call or email us!
 

TUITION & CANCELLATION POLICY:

Tuition is due monthly via autopay for all classes.  Please keep an updated card on file.  Please update any cards nearing expiration.

Tuition will be run on the 1st of every month between September and June, 2017-2018 school year.

If you wish to pay via cash/check you may do so by paying for the full 2017/2018 year in full.

All studio closures and public holidays are accounted for and NOT charged in your monthly tuition.  Some months there are 3 classes, others there are 5 classes and we calculate tuition to make sure it all balances out throughout the year.

You must confirm which class you wish your child to attend at least ONE week prior to the session commencing. This is to ensure your place is reserved. Unfortunately we can't guarantee a spot in the class for drop ins and late registration.

At least two weeks notice is required to withdraw from a class at which point we will no longer run your card and will release your child's space.

Tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE. 

Dance & Drama Make-Up classes for any missed group classes can be made at any point throughout the current and following month. You are responsible for booking your own make-up classes via email.  Please contact the studio prior to attending a desired make-up class to confirm space in the class.
 
24 hours notice must be given if you are unable to make a scheduled private class.  Private classes cancelled after 24 hours cannot be rescheduled or credited.  You will be charged for the class.  Private classes may be rescheduled per the teachers availability.

STUDIO POLICIES:

Drop Off/Pick Up Courtesies:
The lobby will open ten minutes before class to allow time for changing and to use the bathroom. Please stay in the lobby until your teacher says it is ok to enter the studio.

If you arrive after the class has started, please use the lobby / dressing area to get changed (including footwear) and have only your child quietly enter the studio.   We know families make every effort to arrive on time, however if you do find yourself running late please abide by this policy to avoid additional interruption or distraction for other students.

Please keep noise to a minimum when in the lobby / hallway areas, as well as when leaving the studio as a courtesy to our neighbors.

Classroom Etiquette:
No gum, food or drink other than water is allowed inside the studio.
There will be no hanging, playing, sitting, or climbing on either the wall or Barres.
Please refrain from touching the mirrors.
Once a class is in progress, only students in the class may use the in-studio bathroom. Our main bathroom is located just at the back of Studio B, through the dressing room.

Parent/Carer Observation Etiquette:
Parents must join in / assist for Parent & Me Dance.

Parents may enter the studio for all 2.5 & 3's classes to ease with transition. 

All other classes are drop off with parents in the lobby / close by.
Parents are welcome to observe class through the observation windows.
There will be no photography or video of classes without teacher permission.   
No parents are permitted to enter into the studio without invitation from the teacher.
If your child needs to leave before a class’ scheduled end time, please discuss this with the teacher before the class begins.

Performances:
We offer the chance to perform in our yearly Spring Show. This is a wonderful opportunity to see the progress your child has made, and for students to experience performing on stage. This is always optional and not a requirement when attending Blue Starz. If you do decide to take part, we require a full commitment from January of that year. There is a low recital fee that will be included in February's tuition installment and will include costume and x2 ticket fees.  A detailed Recital Handbook will be given out before the Winter Break so you have plenty of time to decide if you'd like your child to partake.  
 

SAFETY:

Student Instructor Relationship-Dance/Drama:
Student / Instructor Interaction: please be advised that the study of dance involves physical contact. Instructors will often need to make hands-on contact to adjust students’ alignment and to demonstrate proper motion. Students should keep the faculty informed of any recent illness, injury, or other condition that may interfere with their ability to dance in class.  The teachers cannot be held responsible for any accidents, loss or injury to the student, or to the student’s belongings during classes, or during drop-off and pick-up times; however an appropriate amount of care will be taken by the teachers to safeguard from such incidents.

Student Instructor Relationship-Music:
The Music Teachers cannot be held responsible for any accidents, loss or injury to the student, or to the student’s belongings during classes, or during drop-off and pick-up times; however an appropriate amount of care will be taken by the teachers to safeguard from such incidents.  Any medical issues/concerns must be carefully noted by the parent/guardian.  Should the parent/guardian have any concerns for their child’s health risks with regards to music classes (which may sometimes incorporate stretching and occasional movement when practicing performance), please notify the Teachers directly.

The directors and staff at Blue Starz are educated in the negative impact of inappropriate music and costume selection when it comes to performing dance routines and are wholeheartedly committed to ensuring children in all of our dance routines are not subjected to any inappropriate songs or costuming. We recognise that songs with sexist, explicit, violent, racist, homophobic or criminal content may influence our dancers and/or audience and will strive to avoid using such music. We are committed to restricting costumes that project sexuality, contain explicit graphic or textual content.

Blue Starz takes no responsibility for any stolen or misplaced property on the studio premises and we encourage our families to avoid bringing valuable items into the studio where possible.  We do have a lost and found in our changing area.

You will find within our enrolment paperwork a public liability / insurance statement. Please read this document carefully and sign it prior to the commencement of classes so you fully understand the rights and responsibilities of your family and our studio.

UNIFORM:

At Blue Starz, we believe that wearing studio uniforms give students a sense of belonging to our family as well as creating an identity for our studio in the greater community.

Our uniforms also:

• Encourage discipline
• Help students resist peer pressure to buy stylish clothes for class
• Help identify non-students in the studio
• Diminish economic and social barriers between students
• Increase a sense of belonging and school pride

Uniforms can be purchased year-round from the studio.  Should we not have your size in stock, please place your order at the front desk.  Orders are made weekly.

Please ensure all parts of your child’s uniform are clearly labelled - individual shoes, socks...you’ll be amazed at the amount of lost property we generate!

Blue Starz' Social Media Policy refers to all social networking sites, video/photo sharing sites, blogs, micro-blogs, wikis, podcasts, forums, instant messaging and geo-spatial tagging (for example, Facebook check-ins). Please see below for our regulations regarding Social Media and feel free to contact our office staff if you have any questions. 

- Any comments or posts perceived to be obscene, defamatory, threatening, harassing, discriminatory or hateful towards Blue Starz staff, students or families may subject the owner to disciplinary or legal action.

- Any content revealing or referring to sensitive studio information is not allowed to be shared online.

- Intellectual property laws (for example, music and choreography) must be observed by all studio patrons when posting online.

- While affiliated with our studio, (for example, images of your child in Blue Starz uniform) we will not tolerate any posts that are racially, sexually, physically or religiously offensive.

- All matters pertaining directly to the studio - whether it be fees, scheduling, placements or performance opportunities - may not be communicated via Social Media. We have an open door policy and encourage all communication, complaints and feedback to be communicated to the principal / studio manager directly.

- You may not post photographs / videos that feature Blue Starz staff and dancers other than your own online without the proven consent of them / their parent/guardian.
